I’ve been checking out the migration of the players since the ridiculous gaming ban in the US and one site which has deservedly benefited from the demise of other sites is Full Tilt Poker.

I’d always previously been a fan of the site and they were always making constant changes to their software, games and schedules at the requests of us, the players, and now they are getting some rewards.

I signed up last night and deposited $350 and have decided that Full Tilt will now be my site of choice as they have good cash game traffic and their SnG and MTT structure is one of the best in the business. My PokerStars account is now empty and once my rakeback payment has hit my Sun Poker account I’ll be withdrawing from there too. Sun Poker has some very soft players but the traffic is very low and has dropped in recent days after Betfair abandoned ship and went to the Poker Champs network. I’ll be playing a mixture of full ring and 6-max NL25 and some MTT’s thrown in but I need to separate my bankrolls first so I can have a cash game one and a tournament roll.

Full Tilt is still accepting US based customers and they look like they’ll be fighting their corner to carry on doing so long term. Use bonus code YORKSH1REPUD for a 100% up to $600 1st deposit bonus

Best of luck at those tables :D

A Fresh Start October 31, 2006

Hello there! Readers who regularly check in will notice that I have deleted all my old posts and any new people will see this as my first entry into my blog. I have a legitimate reason for doing this and it’s not because I’ve gone on tilt and deleted everything in a blind rage, it’s merely because I want a fresh start. I want a fresh start because I have made a conscious decision to try and take my game to the next level. For too long now I feel like I’ve been somehow holding back and hindering my progress through the stakes. I love the game of poker for many reasons including pitting myself against fellow players but I like it even more when I am winning money and when I’m winning money I want more of it! Greedy? Maybe, but that is me. I can be very materialistic when it comes to cold, hard cash!

In my brief and limited career I have managed to take $500 up to $1,400 and then take $300 up to $1k but whenever I hit the $1k+ mark something seems to have happened either out of my control (ie relationships breaking down, moving house, bankruptcy) or I’ve become undisciplined and chopped and changed sites and games willy nilly which has been detremental to my game and, to some degree, my bankroll. Overall I have been a winning player but not on a large scale and I want that to change. I want to become the best poker player I can, specialising in NL cash games and MTT’s and it just so happens that if I manage to make progress in my game the financial benefits will follow. In order to develop as a player I am going to have to teach myself more self control, especially not taking beats personally and to stop playing under unfavourable conditions.

I had a good run last month depsite shipping a couple of buyins over 2k hands of 6max NL25 and wasting some cash in some MTT’s on Sun Poker, I ended up over $150 to the good which I would take every month in a heartbeat. The thing is though I feel I am cheating myself out of not only earnings but experience as I could have easily played 3x as many hands but lacked the discipline to play the sessions which meant I hardly played. There were a few occassions where I was going to log a few hours and ended up only playing for 30 minutes before logging off and doing other things. Nobody can make this work but me!

To help me understand situations I’ll be in I am going to take a moreactive roll in a few forums I currently take part in or just view and post HH’s and get involved in discussions on them. These forums are Texas Holdem Forums, Two Plus Two, Pocket Fives and Internet Texas Holdem. I’m a moderator at the first forum and it has a good mix of experienced and totally new players so should get mixed responses to my hand histories etc. Everyone knows 2+2 and P5’s are, as a rule, quite harsh in their repsonses but if you sieve through the bullshit there is some great advice to be had on there, no doubt. ITH also has some very good players on there also and have always seemed a friendly bunch who are willing to help, I’ve just never really posted anywhere other than THF before so it will seem weird posting questions as a newbie again!

I’ve deleted everything, including my PT info and I am counting November 1st, 2006 as the first day of my new “career”. I am by no means anywhere near doing this crazy game for a living but I am now going to start laying the foundations and therefore it’s out with the old Yorkshire Pudding and in with the new! All old evidence of a former donk has been erased and now you will only see +EV plays from a winning player ;) Well that’s the idea
anyway!

Thanks for continuing checking in and please feelfree to leave any comments you wish. Things are good in my life at the minute, hopefully it’ll carry over to my poker game!

Best of luck at those damned tables :D
